Luce Bélanger

//Soprano 

Luce discovered and fell in love with vocal jazz while studying classical piano at Laval University. She then decided to pursue singing and ended up earning a master’s degree in jazz at McGill University in 2014. Being the soprano of the group, she participates in the creation of arrangements for the sextet. Outside of Jazz Affair, Luce is taking part in different projects as a pianist, singer and composer. As member of a jazz trio, she recorded the album, “Geranium” released in  2016.

 
 
Louis Laprise

//Baritone

A classically trained pianist, Louis discovered jazz while studying at Laval University where he eventually earned a master’s degree in arrangements for pop/jazz music. Being the baritone of Jazz Affair, he is a lover of acappella music, a style he practices since the age of 12. As the main beatbox performer for the group, he loves bringing his own style through his arrangements. Besides Jazz Affair, he also offers his arrangement talents to many artists and groups of all styles and pursues a career as a pianist and keyboard player for different projects.

//Tenor

Since the age of 3, Jean-François was initiated to piano and singing and received rigorous classical training. At the age of 17, he went on to study classical piano at the cegep of Sainte-Foy and earned a bachelor’s degree in jazz piano at Université Laval. Jean-François has collaborated as a pianist with many artists, such as Bruno Pelletier, Laurence Jalbert, Steve Barakatt, Jean-François Breault, Marie-Ève Janvier and Ima. He joined Jazz Affair in 2015 as a tenor and rapidly introduced his style thanks to his arrangements and his wide musical experience.

 

 

 
 
Camille L.-C.

//Alto

Since childhood, Camille cherishes a dream of singing but it’s while studying classical piano in cegep that she made the leap towards jazz singing. While perfecting her art at Laval University, she met other vocal music enthusiasts with whom she created the vocal band Jazz Affair. Alto of the group, she currently is pursuing music education studies in Montreal while sharing her love of music by teaching in primary schools.

Marie-Pier Deschênes

//Mezzo soprano

At the age of 17, Marie-Pier was admitted in the music program at Collège d’Alma without having any musical or vocal training. Thanks to the intensity of her interpretations, she stands out through her stage presence and her jazz improvisations. Her love for music and her perseverance led her to attend Laval University. In 2012, she won the prize for best female soloist at the prestigious Harmony Sweepstakes in New York, whilst attending as part of Jazz Affair. While finishing her studies in jazz interpretation, the mezzo-soprano is also making a name in Quebec’s musical scene by participating in different projects as a chorister, choirmaster and composer.

 

 

Christian B. Poulin

//Bass

Christian discovered a cappella music in 2005, and developed a passion for singing thereafter. He is a founding member of Jazz Affair and he sings the bass part. He completed his education as a classical pianist in Quebec City, and obtained a master’s degree in instrumental didactics and is now pursuing a piano teacher career. As a chorister, he performed several times in musical productions, including Elvis Experience on its Montreal tour in the summer of 2016 and 2018.
